DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Leroy John Landry, 82, at 11:00 am Monday, January 18, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Nathan Comeaux will be the celebrant. Mr. Landry will be laid to rest in the Migues Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 206 W. Church St. in Delcambre on Monday from 9:00 am until Mass time.
Leroy John Landry was born February 3, 1933 in Delcambre to the late Elie and Claudia Landry. He passed away peacefully Friday, January 15, 2016 at his residence, with his family at his side.
Leroy was a veteran of the Unites States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was retired from Diamond Crystal Salt Mine with over 28 years of service, and from the Iberia Parish School Board with 10 years. Mr. Landry was a member of American Legion Post in Delcambre.
Leroy enjoyed spending time outdoors and caring for his yard. But his greatest joy was the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he adored. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley Sonnier Landry; his children, Larry J. Landry and wife Anita, Melissa Jenkins and husband Shannon, and Timmy Landry and wife Tammy all of Delcambre; six grandchildren, Amy Boudreaux, Luke Landry, Tristan Landry, Linzy Landry, Celie Landry and Ashley Jenkins; seven great grandchildren, Dax Boudreaux, Lawson Landry, Abigail Landry, Hudson Landry, McKenzie Boudreaux, Aubrey Boudreaux and Laya Guidry.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Luke, Tristan, Cecil, Wayne, Lawson and Hudson Landry, Dax Boudreaux, Tony Broussard and Todd Saunier.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice, especially Cheryl and Kathleen, for the care and compassion to Leroy.
