Leewood Joseph “Bee” Goutierrez

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Leewood Joseph “Bee” Goutierrez, age 83, at 2:30 pm Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Metrejean officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 8:00 am until 2:15 pm on Tuesday at Evangeline Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 pm.
A native and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Goutierrez passed away at 12:28 pm Saturday, December 31, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Goutierrez was a member of the US Navy and served his country admirably. He was employed by Texaco and retired after 32 years of service.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy “Dot” Miguez Goutierrez of Delcambre; one daughter, Tina Goutierrez Landry and husband Rodney of Delcambre; two grandsons, Brody Landry and Lee Landry and wife Marcy and two great granddaughters, Lila Landry and Ruby Landry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gussie and Eldora Broussard Goutierrez; one sister, Audrey Comeaux and one brother, Wilbert Broussard.
Pallbearers will be member of the family.

ABBEVILLE — Memorial services for Samuel S. “Pops” Mitchell III, 64, will be 7:00PM Thursday January 5, 2017 in David Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00PM until service time.
Samuel passed away Wednesday December 28, 2016 in Abbeville General Hospital.
Growing up in Canton, Massachusetts, he played goalie for high school hockey team. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a boat captain and fisherman for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marguerite “Granny” Mitchell ; his children Denise Waller, Jenise Hebert and husband Gary, Charles Waller and companion Tammy Ray and Kelly Mill ; his siblings Earl Mitchell and wife Angela, Ellen Roche and husband Kevin, Sally Gilmore and husband Paul, Sue Costello , Nancy Silva, and his beloved dog Bella; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren,2 nephews and 5 nieces.
He is preceded in death by parents Samuel S. Jr. and Mabel Davis Mitchell, a grandson Clark A. Miller

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph Wilton Suire, 80 years, who died Friday, December 30, 2016.
He was laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services.
He is survived by his brother, Preston Suire; and two sisters, Zoie Stoute and Lillian Turner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Suire and the former Avelia Touchet; and sisters, Lilias Cenac, Onezia Trahan, Jeanne Dupre and Hilda Marceaux..
Visiting hours were observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Monday January 2, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM; Tuesday January 3, 2017 from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM when the procession departed for the church.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville for Deborah Frances Benoit, 57, who passed away on January 2, 2017. A private family gathering will follow.
Ms. Benoit, a resident of Duson, was the daughter of the late Charles Stelly and the former Mary Hebert.
Deborah never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. She was a dedicated wife, sister and mother who cherished her children.
She is survived by her sons, Nicholas, Lucas, Jordan and Caleb Benoit; her mother, Mary Stelly; sisters, Gwen Stelly, Dawn Trahan and Charlene Farrar and brothers, Mark Stelly and Charlie Stelly.
She was preceded in death by father, Charles Stelly; maternal grandparents, Jean Otis Hebert, Sr. and Mary Hazel Boudreaux and uncle, Jean Otis Hebert, Jr.

Esther Marie Bohrer, 95, better known to her family and friends in her younger years as “Tot”, passed away peacefully at Maison du Monde Nursing Home on Friday, December 30, 2016.
She was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Abbeville. Esther loved life to the fullest. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casino. She was an example of love, kindness and generosity to all who knew her. Her sweet demeanor was God’s blessing to us all.
Funeral services were held at Vincent Funeral Home – Abbeville on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Father Michael Richard officiating. Interment was in St. Mary Cemetery.
Esther is survived by three daughters, Sandra Pigott and husband Glenn, Linda Kleinpeter, Janet Faulk and husband Tommy; nine grandchildren, Mark, Barry, Guy and Robie Guidry; Ann Kleinpeter, Cook and Hugh Kleinpeter; Wade, Erin and Adam Lege; and five great grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her father Harry Bohrer and her mother Tenel Menard Bohrer, her sister Ruby Bohrer Welborn, her brother Bernard “Benny” Bohrer and son-in-law, Guion Hugh Kleinpeter.
The family would like to thank Maison du Monde and their staff for the loving care they gave our mother and to Lamm Family Care Hospice.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Faye Trahan Hardy; two daughters, Karen Hardy of Lafayette and Cheryl Frederick and husband Randy of Lake Charles; two sons, Duane Hardy and wife Susan of Baton Rouge and Chad Hardy and wife Toni of Gonzales; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Frederick and wife Rebecca of Marietta, GA, Jennifer Frederick Quebedeaux and husband Cory of Lake Charles, Andre Frederick and wife Elyse of Lafayette, Leslie Howton of Lafayette, Clinton Hardy of Gonzales, Taylor Hardy of Gonzales, Grant Hardy of Baton Rouge, and Gabe Hardy of Baton Rouge; four great grandchildren, Blake and Lucas Quebedeaux and Aubrey and Elle Frederick; his brothers-in-law, Dr. Edward Villemez Jr. and wife Lil of Alexandria and Loudride Trahan of Kaplan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Hardy and the former Edolie Vincent; and his sister, Jane Hardy Villemez.

He is survived by his son, Thad Foreman and his wife, Gerrie of Baton Rouge; 7 grandchildren, Stefanie LeMaire, Katherine and her husband, Chris Odinet, Blake LeMaire and his wife, Yvette, Clay LeMaire, Leighton LeMaire, Ty Foreman and his wife, Kristen, and Monique and her husband, Dusty Lambert; 12 great grandchildren, Beau LeMaire, Ethan LeMaire, Matthew LeMaire, Jesti Bell, Alexander Odinet, Andre’ Odinet, Emma LeMaire, Mollie LeMaire, Bennett LeMaire, Dylann Lambert, Peyton Lambert, and Tyler Foreman; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Olivia and Savannah Inman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Latiolais Foreman; one daughter, Charlotte F. LeMaire; one grandson, Grant LeMaire; his parents, Edward Foreman and the former Ozite Vincent; and two sisters, Marjorie F. Lamb and Mavis F. Richard.

Edmay Pesson, 98, a native of Kaplan, LA and a resident of Bayou Vista, LA passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
Ms. Edmay lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and dancing, but her love was being outside where she could play in the garden or go fish. Ms. Edmay’s other love in life was her family. Being with her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She is survived by her, children Norman Pesson, Raymond Pesson and wife Betty, Patricia Toups and husband Clarence; 11 grandchildren, 29 great grand children, 22 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother John LaSalle and wife Audrey
Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Pesson; son, Presley Pesson, 3 brothers, Theodore LaSalle, Melvin LaSalle and Watson LaSalle; 1 sister, Gladys LeBlanc

George Argue Putnam

ABBEVILLE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM in Vincent Funeral home, Abbeville, LA for George Argue Putnam, who died peacefully at his residence on Friday, December 30. The Reverend Annie Brown Etheredge, Rector at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, will serve as the Celebrant.
George was born at Hotel Dieu in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 7, 1935, with his triplet sisters Ruth and Lise, to Ruth and Emmet P Putnam, Jr. of Abbeville. He graduated from McCallie Military School in Chattanooga, TN, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia Brown Putnam and their three sons, their spouses, and four grandchildren, including Dr. George Putnam, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, Thomas Brown (Tommy) Putnam and his wife Delie Hagelin Putnam and their children Brown and Shelby, of Lafayette, LA, and John T Putnam, his wife Jennifer Kopp Putnam, and their sons Emmett and Brooks of Napa, CA. George was preceded in death by his parents Emmet, Jr. and Ruth Putnam, his sister Lise Putnam Liddell, and son Charles Simon Putnam.
Growing up in Abbeville, he developed a deep affection for this area and lived his full 81 years there. Abbeville is where he raised his family, made his friends and grew his businesses. He was an ardent outdoorsman. He loved to work, hunt, and fish, where he did all of them on international scale.
After graduating from Vanderbilt in 1958 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp reserves. Afterwards, he returned home to join his father in the family business at Abbeville Lumber Company where he built fine homes, commercial buildings including the Bank of Erath and concrete rice bins that still stand in Abbeville and throughout the region. In 1967, he started building offshore living quarters. This vision would eventually become Abbeville Offshore Quarters which grew to have over 180 employees, a rental fleet of over 350 buildings and fabricating permanent quarters housing people offshore Israel, Nigeria, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Mexico, Trinidad and the Gulf of Mexico.
He never forgot his farming roots and enjoyed aquaculture. At one time he tried importing Australian crawfish, and enjoyed providing large crawfish from his two farms in Kaplan and Meaux to several local restaurants.
Mr. Putnam also had a long history of community involvement. Some of his affiliations included The Abbeville Kiwanis Club, where he was named Outstanding Kiwanian in 1967. He was Senior Warden of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and sang in its choir. He was also noted for his prize-winning camelias.
Mr. Putman showed extreme determination and strength in living with Parkinson’s Disease for over 35 years, longer than anyone on record. Visitation will be observed at Vincent Funeral from 11:00 until 7:00 on Friday January 6, 2017 and on Saturday January 7, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at Vincent Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville. Following the burial will be a reception at the family home.
Pallbearers will be his nephews Ed Carter, Frank Liddell, Robert Liddell along with Daniel Gaspard, Gil Meaux, Josh Newman and Ritchie Theriot.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 1101, Abbeville, LA 70511, or Mt. Carmel Elementary School, 405 Park Ave, Abbeville, LA 70510.

Veda Richard

Erath – A Mass of Christen burial for Veda Richard, 82, will be held Tuesday January 10, 2017 at 2:30 PM at St. John Catholic Church in Henry with Fr. Andrea Metrejean Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday January 9, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:30 PM and will continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery.
Verda a native of the Banker community and a resident of Erath, she was raised on a sugar cane farm. She worked for the vermilion parish Council on Aging and also Dozier Elemetary in the maintenance department during Mr. Johnny Suire’s time as principle. She later was caregiver to her mother and mother-in-law in their later years. She was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath. Mrs. Richard passed away Friday January 6, 2017 at a local nursing home surrounded by her children and caretaker Janet Hollier.
Survivors include her two daughters Donna Hargrave of Erath, and Janel and her husband Sammy Delino of Henry; two sons Jaimey and his wife Holly Richard of Nunez, and Ulyess “Reed” Richard of Erath; her grandchildren Tammy Nunez, Rebecca Suire, Janlynn Davis, Jason Hargrave, Bart Delino, Danielle Alleman, Liza McCracking, and Erin and Adam Leblanc; twenty four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Verda was preceded in death by her husband Ulyess Richard, her parents Wallace and Gertrude Rodrigue Labit; her sister Hilda and her husband Lenis Boudreaux, brothers Wilson and his wife Eve Labit, Ben, Alvin, and Jessie Labit; granddaughter Tabatha Rae Richard; son in law Michael Hargrave.
Serving as pallbeares will be Jason Hargrave, Bart Delino, Dustin Lemaire, Caleb Davis, Bailey Meaux, and Draik Delino.
The family of Mr. Richard wish to offer special thanks to Dr. Lahasky, Father Metrejean, and devoted caretaker Janet Hollier for all the love and support given to our Mom and us through these difficult times.

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for Hazel Broussard Perrin, 89, will be 11:00AM Tuesday January 10, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church in Henry with Father Andre Metrejean officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum in Erath. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath Monday January 9, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 PM and will resume Tuesday from 8:00 AM until service time.
Hazel, a native and life resident of Henry passed away Friday January 6, 2017 in her residence. She owned and operated Hazel’s Beauty Shop for 36 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She was active in the Henry Community, taught catechism for many years, and was a member of the Henry Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Hazel was an active volunteer for the American Legion and the ExxonMobil Annuity Club. More than anything else, Hazel was devoted to taking care of her entire family, cooking, sewing, and crafting for many throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jonas Perrin of Henry; her children Carolyn Perrin Boudreaux of Gulf Shores,AL, Randall Perrin and wife Nina of Henry; grandchildren Melissa Boudreaux of Lafayette, Jeanne Perrin Henderson and husband Michael of Baton Rouge,LA, Chip Perrin and wife Heather of Kaplan, and Stephanie Perrin Roth and husband Benjamin of Abbeville; 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Aurelien “Fils” Jr. and Alzire Comeaux Broussard and her siblings Ena B. Toups and Henry Broussard.
Serving as her pallbearers will be Michael Henderson, Benjamin Roth, Barry Toups, Eric Toups, Kirk Broussard, and Chip Perrin.

He is survived by his son, Shane Frederick; two grandchildren, Chance and Kylie Frederick; two sisters, Waldine Broussard and Geraldine F. Boudreaux; brother, Patrick Frederick; and a host of nieces and nephews.

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday January 10, 2017, at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church honoring the life of Timmy Jude Hebert, 47 years, who died Saturday, January 7, 2017.
He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Troy Hebert, Toby Hebert, Tony Henry, Coy Miller, Eric Hardy and Craig Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Lenis Hebert, Ricky Hebert, Luke Hebert, Blaine Dugas and Lane Frederick.
Timmy has always been a hardworking and giving individual. After graduating in 1987 he went to work for Murphy’s Lease and Welding. He worked his way up in the oilfield service industry from being a roustabout laborer to dockside dispatcher for Unocal and P & B Operators. In 2007, he was forced to retire due to back problems that required two surgeries.
Although disabled, Timmy was active with Woodmenlife Chapter 007 in Abbeville where he served as president. He also served as president of the Abbeville Lions Club. Through the Lions Club Cubsight program, he volunteered to screen daycare and head start children, to detect any eye problems they may have had. He was also a member of the Vermilion Cattlemen’s Assocation and the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Assocation
He is survived by his three daughters, Kristin Hebert of Kaplan, Kylie Hebert and Keri Hebert of Abbeville; parents, Lenis and Elaine Hebert of Abbeville; brothers, Troy Hebert and his wife Natalie and Toby Hebert and his wife Dawn of Abbeville; grandsons, James Ryan Hebert of Abbeville and Zayden Weber of Kaplan; paternal grandmother, Bernice Hebert of Abbeville; goddaughter, Seirra Weber of Kaplan and Carly Hebert of Abbeville; nieces, Emma Grace and Lexi Drew Hebert of Abbeville; nephew Luke Hebert of Abbeville; and caregivers, Mary Ann and Tony Henry of Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clarence Hebert; maternal grandparents, Edwin and Ora LeBlanc; paternal great grandparents, Renoudet, Sr. and Noemi Hebert and Antoine and Louise LeBouef; maternal great grandparents, Ovey and Adelaide Choate and Erista Corner; and his father-in-law and best friend, James Royce Henry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Monday January 9, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM; Tuesday January 10, 2017 from 8:00 AM until 1:45 PM when we will depart for the church.

Richardson and husband, Nathan of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, Laxcy Vincent, Jr. and wife Tammy, Clinton Vincent and wife Holly, Brady Vincent, Brandon Gaspard, Jarod Gaspard, Donnelle Cole and husband Travis, Dawayne Gaspard and wife Abbey, Nichol Thibodeaux and husband Robert and James C. Richardson and wife Brandi; eighteen great grandchildren, Justin Goodwin, Cade Vincent, Peyton Bailey, Jancee Vincent, Shelby Vincent, C.J. KAPLAN — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Polly M. Conner, 87 years, who passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Paul Bienvenu officiating the services.
Polly was very active and participated in many organizations including the Gold Star Wives of America, Catholic Daughters Society, Ladies Altar Society, and American Legion Auxiliary. She also served as a lector at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Eucharistic minister at church, and in the homes of those unable to attend mass. She was a volunteer coordinator at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital and voted Outstanding Citizen of 1993 by the Woodmen of the World Society. Polly was known for her sweet smile and dedication to her community, children, and grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her two sons, Joel Conner and his wife, Lou Anna of Houma and Paul Conner and his wife, Gail of Kaplan; two daughters, Kathy and her husband, Mike Cormier of Kaplan and Kim and her husband, Patrick Montagne of Dallastown, PA; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Paul Conner, Sr.; and her parents, Wesley Melancon and the former Mary Rogers.

ABBEVILLE – A Memorial Service for Ms. Eva Marie R. Bordelon, 77 will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2017, in David Funeral Home of Abbeville.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 10:00 AM until time of services.
A native of Melville, Louisiana and a resident of Abbeville, Ms. Eva passed away on January 9, 2017, at 3:53 PM at the Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Ms. Eva enjoyed crocheting and tending to her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Christian Service Center and local food bank.
She is survived by her two sons, Joe Bonnette and his wife Toni of Kentucky, Curtis “Bummie” Bonnette and his wife Ann of Sunset, Louisiana; a daughter, Elizabeth Bonnette of Lafayette; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Gracie Cannady Rouse; a brother, Mutt Rouse; two sisters, Catherine and Sarah Kimble; and her three children, Connie, Terry, and John Bonnette.

Amy, born in Henry and a resident of Erath, passed away peacefully Monday January 9, 2017 at Maison Du Monde in Abbeville. Amy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother. She never met a stranger and family was her life. She was a homemaker, she loved to cook, listening to music, and dancing. She was very faithful in praying her rosary.
She is survived by her son Danny “Bud” Baudoin and wife Patricia of Erath; two daughters, Patsy Vidallia and husband Larry, Debbie Baudoin of Erath, and an adopted daughter Roxsanna Perro of Abbeville; a sister Isabelle Rodrigue Sonnier of Delcambre; half sister Jo Ann Trahan formerly of Abbeville; three grandchildren Brandie Lynn Vidallia of Erath, Seth Vidallia and wife Michelle of Erath, Derek Hidalgo and wife Randi of Mire; six great grandchildren Gage Laviolette, Kaidyn Jones, Conner and Kylee Vidallia all of Erath, and Emma and Evie Hidalgo of Mire; step grandchildren Danny Hebert of Mandeville, and son Justin Hebert and wife Brittany, Vincent Hebert and wife Johnnie Ann and their children John, Matthew, and Jessica of Madisonville, Kevin Hebert and wife Danielle and their children Audree and Ozzy of Erath; a very special sister in law Eula Domingue of Erath; and a special niece Cathy Domingue Landry of Erath; Godchildren Kevin Bertrand of Duson, Elvis Langlinais of San Terese, NM and Gloria Baudoin Stogner of Franklinton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Jerry James Abshire, 80, who passed away on January 7, 2017.
Reverend Mike Walker, Pastor of The Bayou Church will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum.
Mr. Abshire, a resident of Duson, was the son of the late Joseph Abshire and the former Una Lemaire.
Jerry was owner/operator of AAA Auto Parts and Auto Sales. He was an avid tennis player and snow skiing enthusiast. Jerry was an accomplished musician, song writer, first chair trumpet player and Gospel Quartet lead vocalist.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Kendall and husband, John, Ricky Abshire and wife, Patricia and Jordan Abshire and wife, Amanda; seven grandchildren, Christy Pitre, Carmen Matthews, Brittany Scharf, Victoria Abshire, Nathanael Abshire, Rhett Abshire and Beau Abshire; seven great grandchildren and one sister, Raydell Abshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine Abshire and one brother, Frank Abshire.
