Curley Cormier

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Curley Cormier, 98, who died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings.
He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Chase Romero, Kanyon St. Julien, Kayne Breaux, Kullan Romero, Weston Cormier, and Antonio Cormier. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Cormier.
Curley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who served his country during WWII in the Army. He had a love and a passion for woodworking, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by two sons, Calvin Cormier and his wife Wanda of Meaux, and Michael “Mike” Cormier and his wife Linda of Erath; three daughters, Linda Romero and her husband Jerry of Abbeville, Karen Landry and her husband David of Maurice, and Denise Landry, and her husband Ernie of Maurice; one brother, John Exie Cormier; three sisters, Anne Benoit, Irene Decou, and Elva Mae (T-Mae) Hernandez;grandchildren, Chad Cormier, Charmaine Shields,Chris St. Julien, Chase Romero, Jadie Breaux, Penny Cormier, Micky Cormier, Weston Cormier, Kayla Granger, Dustin Landry, and Denae Landry ; and great grandchildren, Kullan Romero, Kayne Breaux, Kanyon St. Julien, Mia St. Julien, Addison St. Julien, Antonio Cormier, Vanessa Breaux, Chelsea Redmond, Sydney Redmond, Francesca Granger, Ana Thomas, Chase (C.J.) Romero, Jr., Cash and Cruz Romero; step great grandchildren, Natalie and Ana Kathereen Granger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Hebert Cormier, parents, Francois Cormier and the former Selvina Trahan; four brothers, Asa, Willie, Alex, and Thomas Cormier; and three sisters, Marie Edmae Cormier, Jeannie Landry and Hortense St. Marie.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 27, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for church.

ERATH – A Funeral Service for Mrs. Shirley Lange Hebert, 69, will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Mary Magdelan Catholic Church with Deacon Francis Cao officiating; Linda Thibodeaux and Mark LeBlanc, Jr. as readers; Isabella Potier, Ashton Belaire, Madeline Meaux, and Kimberly Potier as gift bearers; Larry and Linda Thibodeaux as Eucharistic Ministers; and Ruby Buchanan to do eulogy. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 2:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 9:00AM until the time of services.
A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville Mrs. Shirley died at 6:15PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center. The gates of heaven have opened for a beautiful angel. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and god mother, Shirley was a beautiful soul who always prayed the rosary and who was a strong believer in the power of prayer. Shirley was a member of many prayer groups in Abbeville over the years. She spent many days cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, which she spoiled endlessly. She enjoyed Cajun Dancing and speaking French. Shirley was also known as “the homemade bread pudding, topped with hot buttered rum sauce master.” She worked in many well-known restaurants for nearly 30 years, such as Benefield’s Restaurant, Bertrand’s Restaurant, and Dupuy’s Oyster Shop before retiring to become an active grandmother.   She was a devout soldier of Christ and lived her life constantly giving and always thinking of others.  Her gift to us was unwavering faith and incredible kindness.  Her contributions to her family and friends and to our community will be forever cherished.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward J. Hebert of Abbeville; a son, Brenton Hebert of Erath; three daughters, Donna LeBlanc and her fiancé Chris Broussard of Erath, Sharon Belaire and her husband Scott of Abbeville, and Kimberly Potier and her husband David of Maurice; two brothers, Joseph “Smokey” Lange and Glenn Lange; four sisters, Geraldine “Jerrie” Lange, Ruby Buchanan, Linda Thibodeaux, and Sally Cormier; seven grandchildren, Tiffany LeBlanc Meaux and her husband Erik, Mark LeBlanc, Jr., Elmo “E.J.” LeBlanc, Eric Hebert, Austin Belaire, Ashton Belaire, and Isabella Potier; and one great grandchild, Madeline Meaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Vernice “Coon” Lange and Helga Bourque Lange; two brothers, Raywood “Jimmie” Lange and Francis Lange; a son in law, Mark James LeBlanc, Sr.; and her mother and father in law, Louise and Evence Hebert.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ruby Buchanan, Brenton Hebert, Scott Belaire, Austin Belaire, Elmo “E.J.” LeBlanc, Spencer Cormier, Joseph “Smokey” Lange, Ray Lange, and John Lange.

ABBEVILLE – A mass of Christian Burial for Gladys Mae Guidry Joseph is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with burial in St. Paul Cemetery. Father Greg Cormier will be the Celebrant.
Gladys Mae Joseph (72), a long time resident of Abbeville passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2016 at her son’s residence surrounded by family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her passing a loving companion Antoine “T Will” Green of Erath, four children, George Linton, Jr. of Montgomery, TX; Patrick Oneal Linton, (his children) Sharon Parker (Elliot), and Cornelius Darby (Wayne), all of Abbeville, LA; one step son. Percy Joseph Jr., of Abbeville, one sister, Helen Hoffman of Houston, TX; three special daughters, Adrienne Briggs Peters (Michael) and Linda Fisher, her dog, “Smokie”, and Mary “Lee-Lee” Towles, a brother in law, Victor Joseph, Jr, (Tiffany), a sister in law, Beulah Walker (Joseph), two Godchildren, Ernest Martin of Houston, Texas, and David Perro of Abbeville, eleven Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Ernest Guidry and Mamie Levy; sisters, Alona Green (Clarence), Alma Stubben (George) and Anna Shaw; (Guy) brothers, Paul Forrest Guidry and Oris Guidry and her former husband Percy Ray Joseph, Sr.

A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville Mr. Nunez died at his residence on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 9:49AM. Mr. Daniel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired boat captain; a commercial pilot; an avid runner; a successful cattle farmer; and loved horses. Mr. Nunez was also a member of Vermilion Honor Guard; Kaplan American Legion Post 271; a former member of The Cattlemen Association; and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jo Moss Nunez of Abbeville; three daughters, Vanessa Nunez of New Orleans, Angela Nunez Gallagher of Morgan City, and Jodi Nunez Hulin and her husband Paul of Maurice; five grandchildren, Kelly Mergist Jordan and her husband Jameson, Joshua Ditch and his wife Jayde, Megan Guidry Bowden and her husband Bradley, Madison Baugher, and Jacques Hulin; and one great grandchild, Kameron Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felician and Esmae Delcambre Nunez; and a brother, Warren Nunez.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kent Nunez, Juan Nunez, Paul Hulin, Jacques Hulin, Jameson Jordan, and Ronnie Cortese.

Larry Gene Dickson

A private family memorial will be held at a later date honoring the life of Larry Gene Dickson, 79, who died Friday, June 3, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by family.
Larry was born on August 5, 1936 in Mansfield, OH to Howard and Alice Dickson. In his younger years he served in the United States Army. He graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Applied Music. Larry was best known in the early 70’s as a member of the radio personality group on 98.1 WAFB Baton Rouge. He then transitioned to chief meteorologist on Channel 9 WAFB Baton Rouge until 1979 when he and his family moved to Abbeville, LA. Larry began working for the First National Bank of Abbeville. He retired in 1988 as a Vice President of First Commercial Bank of Abbeville.
Larry’s love of music led him to becoming the church pianist at the Abbeville United Methodist Church from 1980 until his untimely demise, where he also led a very active weekly bible study group. He was a member of Chorale Acadienne, where he had the honor of singing at Carnegie Hall on three separate occasions. Larry enjoyed performing with the Abbey Players in many of their theater productions. In addition to having an amateur radio license, he enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, bowling, and golf. He was a very loving and inspirational husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him and loved him, as being a “larger than life” man who will be greatly missed for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances McPherson Dickson; his two daughters, Elizabeth D. Bodin of Abbeville, and Erin D. Landry (Randy Landry) of Lafayette; brother Rev. G. James Dickson of Oxnard, CA; and four grandchildren, Hattie A. Bodin (R.J. Toal), Amelia B. Adams (Taylor Adams), Abby E. Landry, and Anna C. Landry; as well as other extended family..
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Alice Dickson of Mansfield, OH.

Robert Dale Hebert, Ph.D.

Robert Dale Hebert, Ph.D., 77, of Lake Charles died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Catanzaro, Italy while vacationing with his family in the Mediterranean.
Dr. Hebert retired on June 30, 2010 after 41 years of service to McNeese State University, including 23 years as president.
He was subsequently named President Emeritus on August 27 of that year.
He loved European travel with his wife and family. He also enjoyed following McNeese Athletics, researching genealogy, developing and collecting photography, vegetable gardening, and woodworking.
He was especially proud that his four sons were graduates of McNeese. His pride extended to his four grandchildren’s academic successes and talents, with one grandson currently studying at McNeese.
Dr. Hebert was a member of the McNeese Quarterback and Cowboy clubs, past president of Lake Charles Rotary Club, and a charter member of the Montaigne Society. He was inducted into the McNeese Athletics Hall of Honor in 2015.
Dr. Hebert leaves to honor his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Lilly Ann Vincent Hebert of Lake Charles; four sons, Gregory Paul Hebert, M.D. of Lake Charles, Christopher Kent Hebert, M.D. and wife Ava of Lafayette, William Gerard “Gerry” Hebert, M.D. and wife Susan of Lake Charles, and Edward Vincent Hebert, M.D. of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Adam Hebert, Carly Hebert, Matthew Hebert, and Michael Hebert; one sister, Marguerite Frances Hebert of Lafayette; one brother, James Duffy Hebert of Metairie; sisters-in-law, Sally Hebert of Abbeville and Jackie LeMaire and husband Evans of Delcambre; nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edier and Enes Meaux Hebert and one brother, Charles Calvin Hebert.
Dr. Hebert was born on November 14, 1938 in Abbeville, Louisiana, and grew up in Meaux.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now known as the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and he completed Masters and Doctorate degrees from Florida State University.
Dr. Hebert joined the McNeese faculty in 1969 in the Department of History. His field of specialization was modern European history and international relations, and he also taught Russian history. Prior to coming to McNeese, he taught for seven years at Mississippi State University.
He established the McNeese Faculty Senate and served as the first president from 1973-74. He chaired the University Curriculum Committee from 1974-79, held the office of the first Director of Basic Studies in 1979, and became Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1980. Dr. Hebert was installed as the fifth McNeese President in 1987.
In 1989, on the university’s 50th anniversary, he formally adopted the motto “Excellence with a Personal Touch” that is still in use today.
Dr. Hebert negotiated a partnership with the Chamber Southwest Alliance, Calcasieu Parish, and the City of Lake Charles to locate the Southwest Entrepreneurial and Economic Development (SEED) Center on McNeese property.
He was instrumental in the expansion of the assets of the McNeese Foundation from less than $1 million at the beginning of his administration to an excess of $55 million at the time of his retirement, by personally strengthening the relationship between the university and the community.
Dr. Hebert played a key role in the appropriation of over $133 million from both public and private sources for major repairs, renovations, and new construction at McNeese.
These projects included the building of Hardtner Hall, the Frasch Hall addition, new residence halls, the Shearman Fine Arts addition, the Noland Family SkyRanch, the Hodges Street Field House, renovation and expansion of the Jack V. Doland Field House, the McNeese Entrance Plaza, and the acquisition of multiple new McNeese properties.
Dr. Hebert oversaw 14 consecutive enrollment increases during his tenure as president. Under his leadership, the university achieved 100 percent national accreditation for all required programs by the Louisiana State Board of Regents. He created the Honors College with private funds as well as the Frazar Library Archives.
He conceived the McNeese Banners Cultural Series, one of the region’s finest arts and humanities programs. He established a licensing program to protect McNeese’s trademarks and to increase the sales of those products.
He led efforts to receive FCC approval and gain private funding to build a McNeese radio station. He was a leader in campus beautification and was proud to see the number of live oaks on campus increase to more than 300. He also created a private endowment to support the perpetual care and protection of these trees.
The campus incurred more than $25 million in damages from Hurricane Rita, which forced a four-week closure of the university. Dr. Hebert led a team of McNeese staff through the adversities of that fall semester and achieved the goal of student graduation on December 23, 2005 while meeting every employee’s payroll.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Bishop Glen John Provost, Monsignor Jace Eskind, Monsignor Harry Greig, Monsignor Daniel Torres, Father Nathan Long, Father Keith Pellerin and Father Alan Trouille will concelebrate. Interment services will follow in Consolata cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 3:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, with a Scripture service and Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Visitation Monday will be from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Pallbearers for the services will be Chuck Hebert, John Hebert, Van LeMaire, Barry LeMaire, Patrick LeMaire, Timmy LeMaire, and Val LeMaire. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hebert’s grandchildren along with Dr. Jim Brown, Dr. Joe Cash, Dr. Jeanne Daboval, Dr. Rosemary Gray, Dr. Bob Hankins, Dr. Kalil Ieyoub, Mr. Eddie Meche, Mr. Richard Reid, and Mr. Robert Turner.

A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Erath Mrs. Hebert died at 9:05PM at her residence. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Sandra was known for her love for her family and she enjoyed fishing and playing golf. She was also a Member of The Demi Tasse Coffee Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she held several offices in both clubs.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Anthony “Tony” Hebert of Erath; a son, Todd A. Hebert and his wife Kristy of Erath; a daughter, Christine Anne Bourg and her husband Nicky of Erath; a brother, Paul “Buddy” Dore, Jr. of New Iberia; a sister, Jackie Dore of Youngsville; and six grandchildren, Nicholas Bourg, Brianna Hebert, Mia Bourg, Chase Mire, Kali Thompson, and Tyler Townsend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Adam Dore, Sr. and Anne Irene Landry Dore; and a sister, Paulette Dore.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Bourg, Chase Mire, Cole Schexnayder, Matt Hebert, Nicky Bourg, and Todd A. Hebert.

Kenneth Edward “Moose” Delcambre

DELCAMBRE — Kenneth Edward "Moose" Delcambre (originally of Delcambre), age 73, passed away on Friday, May 27 in North Louisiana. A memorial mass for his daughters, grandchildren, siblings and friends will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Voorhies will be the celebrant with Fr. Nathan Comeaux as con-celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church beginning at noon, with the Rosary being recited at 1:00 pm prior to the Mass.
Kenneth, known by family and friends as Moose, was a 1961 graduate of Delcambre High School. He had a career in Law Enforcement that spanned over four decades of service to the people of Louisiana. He retired from the Louisiana State Police with over 30 plus years of service. During that time, he served at Troops C and I, and at the time of his retirement was Commander of Troop D in Lake Charles.
He also served with Protective services for Governors Edwin Edwards and Dave Treen. After his retirement, Moose worked with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Moose is survived by his three daughters, Michelle Delcambre LeBlanc and her husband Randy, Nicole Delcambre Trahan and her husband Kurt, both of Delcambre, and Jenee Delcambre Trahan and her husband Mark of Erath; his grandchildren, Jhy LeBlanc and wife Jessica, Blair Sellers and wife Lanie, Tren LeBlanc and girlfriend Chelsea, Trey LeBlanc and wife Lori, Jaci Trahan, Judd Trahan, and Landon Trahan; and one Great-grandchild due to arrive in December.  He also leaves behind his brother Jordan Delcambre and wife Anna of Springhill, TN, his brother Huey Delcambre and wife Carla, and sister Linie Delcambre, both of Delcambre; numerous nieces and nephews; and his wife, Elizabeth Hebert Delcambre. 
He was preceded in death by his father, L. E. "Jun" Delcambre; mother, Bertha Landry Delcambre; sister, Bernadine Delcambre; and nephew, Grant Paul Mayard.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at a 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of May Grace Hebert Guillot, 76, who died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Baton Rouge General.
She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Ricky Guillot, Sr., Ricky Guillot, Jr., Hilton Stroder, Marcus Stroder, Jody Delcambre, and Jeremy Stroder. Honorary pallbearers will be Kasey Delcambre, Noah Richard, Caroline Stroder, and Carson Stroder.
Grace was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother was a woman of strong Catholic faith. She was an active bingo player and enjoyed collecting angels.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Guillot, Sr. and his wife Leota of Church Point; daughters, Terry G. Stroder and her husband Hilton, Marie Guillot, and Charlotte Guillot all of Abbeville; four grandchildren, Jeremy Stroder, Marcus Stroder and his wife Ashley, April Guillot, and Ricky Guillot, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Noah Richard, Carson Stroder, and Caroline Stroder; special granddaughter, Bernadine LeBlanc; two brothers, Preston Hebert, and Arcade Hebert, Jr.; and sister, Laura Mire.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Guillot; parents, Arcade Hebert and the former Margaret Gaspard; son, Chris Guillot; sisters, Anna Lou Hebert, Mayola Landry, and Fay Buelah Gaspard; and brothers, Wiley, Emory, Robert, Roland, Elie, Ory, and Harold Hebert.

KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Carol Ann “C.A.” Deshotels, 72, who passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Father Paul Bienvenu officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Kane, Dr. Kevin Hargrave, Herschel Reaux, Schel Reaux, Ken Breard, and Clay Vincent.
Carol Ann, affectionately known as C.A., was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and dear friend to so many. Born in Long Beach , CA , her family later moved to Shreveport, LA where she attended school and graduated from Fair Park High School. Following in the footsteps of her parents and the love they shared for teaching, she graduated from LA Tech University in Ruston, LA in elementary education. It was there she met the love of her life, Henri, whom she married in 1968 and later moved to Kaplan, LA to begin their life together.
For twenty years, she enjoyed teaching in the elementary school level. Even though she was not a native of Kaplan, she embraced the community and gave it her all. C.A never met a stranger, being the highlight of everyone’s day. She lovingly cared for everyone, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her infectious smile and laughter always filled every room she entered. She had a warm and caring spirit, and loved serving as the gracious host while entertaining family and friends. Loving and living life to the fullest, she was constantly planning the next trip or gathering. C.A. was the true southern lady and led the way for so many in life.
C.A.’s love spread like wild flowers to her family, friends and community. She touched the lives of so many with a profound and lasting impact. She was a role model, a mentor and an avid volunteer, practicing what she preached. She served on the Board of Directors of the Kaplan Food Bank and was a member of Chez Elles Women’s Club for 45 years, Kaplan Garden Club, Vermilion Parish Retired Teachers Association, Kaplan Museum Committee - Charter Member, and former member of Beta Sigma Phi Social Club, as well as a volunteer for many community events and organizational activities.
Above all else, she deeply loved and cherished Henri, Aimee, Natalie and Thomas and her extended family. According to anyone who knew C.A., she made the world a better place and made you want to be a better person. “A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.”-- Cardinal Mermillod.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, O.H. “Henri” Deshotels of Abbeville; two daughters, Aimée D. Kane and her husband, Tim Kane of Monroe and Natalie Montgomery Hargrave and her husband, Dr. Kevin Hargrave of Lafayette; one grandson, Thomas Montgomery of Lafayette; two step-grandchildren, Stanton and Sophie Hargrave of Lafayette; two granddogs, Ellie and Callie; two sisters, Barbara and her husband, David Crawford of Monroe and Susan and her husband, Ken Breard of Telluride, CO; one brother, Robert Hawkins of Fort Smith, AR; one sister-in-law, Sandra and her husband, Herschel Reaux; one brother-in-law, Shelly Deshotels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Hawkins and the former Carolyn Reed.

Dola was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose humor and faith will live on for generations to come. She had a great devotion to her Lord and His loving mother who both have carried her through many trials in her life.
She is survived by her son, Danny Richard and his wife Linda; two daughters, Kathy Willis and her husband Clay, and Tammy Landry and her husband Tim; two daughters-in-law, Sue V. Richard and Delores D. Richard; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy J. Richard; two sons, Tommy and Jimmy Richard; four grandchildren, Rachel Richard, Jill Richard, Todd Richard and Bryant Vincent; parents, Evia Broussard Domingues and Lotar Domingues; brothers, Dalton, Luley and O.J. DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Paul Dale LeBlanc, age 83, at 11:00 am Monday June 13, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Voorhies officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors by Vermilion Parish Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.
A native resident of Delcambre, Mr. LeBlanc passed away at 6:30 am on Friday June 10, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Mr. LeBlanc served four years in the US Navy as a medical corpsman. He was an avid sports fan, especially a big fan of the LSU Tigers and the Delcambre Panthers. Paul was known for his cooking ability, especially his gumbo. He loved having company. Poppa had a special tradition where he would make all his newborn grandchildren “dance” to a special song passed down from his father. Paul was a constant source of love, courage, and strength to his family. He had an infectious smile and never knew a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Champagne LeBlanc of Erath; son, Scott LeBlanc and wife Liz of Delcambre; daughters, Andrea Dees and husband Arthur of Delcambre, Erin Latiolais of Youngsville, Sharon Primeaux and husband Todd of Erath, and Robin Stephens and husband Chris of Delcambre; grandchildren, Lauren LeBlanc and companion Kyle Robin, Chris Dees and wife Angelique, Steven Dees and companion Rebekah Romero, Philip Viator and wife Brandy, Lyndsey Viator, Randi Bourg and husband Kelly, Janie LeBlanc and fiancé’ Joe Escobar, Erik LeBlanc and companion Brooke Miller, Emily LeBlanc, Kristin Primeaux, Brad Primeaux and companion Taylor Carter, Quinn Primeaux, Noah LeBlanc, Jesse Stephens and wife Jessika, Jeffery Stephens and wife Erica, and Jeremy Stephens and companion Jessica Rann; great grandchildren, Delaina, Kruen, Sophie, Ellie, Kylee, Ryleigh, Drake, Chloe, Ave, Molly, Charlie, and Kendyll; and a sister, Verdice Delcambre of Delcambre.

Virgie was an avid supporter of Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service and 4-H. She served as president on the parish, state and national levels of L.V.F.C. She was inducted into the Louisiana and National 4-H Hall of Fame.
She is survived by her three daughters, Gwendolyn Comeaux and her husband Larry of Judice, Patricia Guidry and her husband McRay of Maurice, and Peggy Gisclair and her husband Larry of Houston, TX; sister, Dorothy B. Menard of Groves, TX; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Youngs Foreman; parents, Armance Broussard, Sr. and the former Ella Schexneider; brothers, Oscar, Lorman and Dalton Lormand, Lawrence “Sing” Broussard and Armance Broussard, Jr.; sisters, Verna Smith and Emma Stein; great grandchild, Victor Gisclair; and step great grandson, Shane Caldwell.

“Heaven has gained a true hero. The legend has finally earned his wings!! Rest in peace and be pain free!!!”

ABBEVILLE — Memorial celebration honoring the life of Kenneth “Moose” Delcambre, 73, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville. He will be escorted by Louisiana State Police to his final resting place - St. Paul Cemetery.
On May 27th, “Moose” lost his battle with Multiple Myeloma at his home in north Louisiana. Family and friends never left his side as his journey to eternal life began. He was every bit a “Trooper” to the end.
“Moose” retired with Louisiana State Police with 30 plus years. At the end of his career, he was Troop Commander in Lake Charles, LA and additional twelve combined years with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Office and Union Parish. He spent many years in narcotics, being one of the original “Dirty Dozen” formed by the state police. These group of men spent many hours attempting to keep our state free of drugs. Throughout his career he earned the name “The Legend”, what an honor. Proudly wearing his blues, badge and carrying his nickname “Moose”, one of a kind!!
“Moose” was a kind gentle giant of a man. Always wanting to help others in their time of need. Like most cajuns if you crossed him, look out!! He was proud of his Cajun heritage and loved to speak french. He loved to make people laugh by telling his famous stories of his career.
“Moose” is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hebert Delcambre; two step-children, Heidi Luquette and her fiancé Craig Launsbry their three children, Jonas, Audie and Piper, and Shane Luquette and his wife Nicole their three children, Bella, Diego, Leo and soon to be “Lil Francois”.

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Bernard “Ban” Delahoussaye, 91, will be held 2:00PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Bill Melancon officiating.  Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM.  Visitation will resume on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of services. Reading for the funeral  mass will be Cheryl Delahoussaye and Ned Goutierrez,Jr. and the gift bearers will be Keshia Etheridge and Jenni Guidry.
A native and resident of Erath, Mr. Bernard passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family.  From a young age the Cajun Culture and serving his country ran deep in his veins.  Ban enlisted in the Army and served this great nation during WWII as a Sergeant.  Mr. Delahoussaye worked for Kerr McGee as a supervisor and retired with the company in 1981.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 279 where he honored many fallen comrades on the firing squad.  His hobbies were dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends, but his passion in life was his family, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mrs. Vergie T. Delahoussaye, his son Terry Delahoussaye and his wife Cheryl of Erath, daughter Charlotte Goutierrez and husband Ned of Erath, and daughter Roslyn Ward and her husband Jimmy also of Erath;  two brothers, 
Roy Delahoussaye and Autrey Delahoussaye; two sisters, Beatrice Duhon and Earline Dore;grandchildren, Eddie Goutierrez, Danny Delahoussaye, Keshia Etheridge, Jenni Guidry, Ryan Bares, Chip Goutierrez and 16 great-grandchildren with a special niece, Verna Trahan.
He was preceded In death by his father, Clomere Delahoussaye, his mother Lucy Bourque, sisters Nell Michaud, Lucille Richard, and Lucilia “Blondie” Delahoussaye, and a grandchild Garrett Goutierrez.
Upholding the honor as pallbearers are Sadler Delahoussaye, Ethan Goutierrez, Eddie Goutierrez, Chip Goutierrez, Chris Etheridge, Ryan Bares, Rodney Guidry, and Danny Delahoussaye.

Sister Bartholomew “B” DeRouen, a Sister of Mount Carmel and teacher, died June 15, 2016 at Evangeline Oaks Guest House, Carencro, LA. She was 81 years old, and in the 61st year of her religious profession.
Sister “B” was born Glee Margaret DeRouen on September 2, 1934 in New Orleans, LA to Arthur DeRouen and Lucille Margaret Reaney of New Orleans, LA. She entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on September 8, 1952 and received the habit of the Sisters of Mount Carmel August 3, 1953. On August 3, 1955, she made her first profession, and pronounced perpetual vows August 5, 1960. She celebrated her 60th jubilee in 2015.
Sister “B” attended Lakeside Elementary and St. Dominic Schools and graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans. At St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO she received both her B.S. in English with a minor in education and philosophy and an M. Ed. in education. She did post graduate work in various areas of religious education at St. Mary of the Plains College, Boston College and Creighton University. Devoting almost 20 years to education she taught at Mount Carmel schools in Abbeville, New Orleans and New Iberia, LA, and at St. James Major in New Orleans, LA where she served as principal in 1966-1969. She worked in campus ministry at McNeese State University and LSU in Eunice, LA in pastoral and retreat work at St. Joseph Church in Rayne, LA, and as a family counselor in Lafayette, LA. She directed retreats for priests, religious and the laity and served as a spiritual director. She has written poetry, music and lyrics, and contributed a column in the Clarion Herald of New Orleans. From 1985-1993 she served as congregation councilor of the Sisters of Mount Carmel. She worked as coordinator of spirituality at Maryville Renewal Center from 1994-1997 and as a pastoral worker at St. Genevieve Church from 1997 until her retirement in 2003. After retirement Sr. “B” continued to write poetry and published Glory to Glory in 2011 while in residence at Evangeline Oaks Guest House where she died after a lengthy illness.
Sister “B” was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Carnilla of Bay St. Louis, MS. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 610 Raintree Trail, Lafayette, LA. Msgr. Jace F. Eskind, J.C.L., pastor of
St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Lake Charles, LA, will preside. Because Sr. “B” donated her body to science, internment will be at a later date in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.
