Zula Mae Meaux Hebert

COW ISLAND — Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Zula Mae Hebert, 88, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Hebert, Corey Landry, Jacob Landry, Justin Landry, Tyler Hebert, and Blake McBride. Honorary pallbearer will be Chance Hebert.
Born August 14, 1927, she graduated from Kaplan High School in 1944. Zula was the beloved wife of Ewell J. Hebert of Cow Island for 70 years; a devoted mother of Ronald (Clara) Hebert of Cow Island, Vicky (Curtis) Landry of Perry, Steve (Lerdy) Hebert of Cow Island, and Mary Beth (Bryan) McBride of Crowley; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren that were the delight of her life. She is also survived by her husband; and two sisters, Velta Gaspard and Mary Gaspard.
Zula's first love was God and the Catholic Church. She served as president of the Cow Island Ladies Altar Society for several terms, and was honored with the Raywood Mouton Service Award for her dedication. Her devotion to holy mass, the rosary, and the Devine Mercy Chaplet strengthened her greatly.
Zula loved her family and enjoyed providing for them. She was an excellent cook and always cooked meals for the men working in the fields. Her sewing skills provided admirable garments for her growing girls, bonnets and baby blankets for her grandchildren, and hemmed and adjusted many pants for her spouse, sons, and grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy H. Bernard; her parents, Harry Meaux and the former Edna Hebert; one sister, Rexine Guilbeaux; one brother, Clifford Meaux; and one grandson, Dwayne Hebert.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Juanita Landry, Laura Stelly, Janie Meche, and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care during their mother's illness.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Anne Catholic Church or Hospice of Acadiana.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Anne Catholic Church, 17315 Lionel Road, on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 9 a.m. until services with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m.

ABBEVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial for Ray Allen Duhon, Sr., 58, will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, August 18, 2016 with Fr. Gregory Cormier officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.
A native and a resident of Abbeville Mr. Duhon died at 3:08PM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Duhon loved the outdoors, especially Hunting, Fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Titina DeVille Duhon of Abbeville; his mother, Nunia Abshire Duhon of Abbeville; two sons, Ray Allen Duhon, Jr. of Kaplan and Christopher J. Duhon of Abbeville; two daughters, Kristy Duhon of Kaplan and Marie Duhon Cepeda of Fort Polk, LA; two brothers, Rickey Duhon of Abbeville and Chad Duhon of Carencro; a sister, Tammy Duhon Thompson of Abbeville; and two grandchildren, Malanna Rae Duhon and Mia Grace Cepeda.
He was preceded in death by is father, Lenix Duhon, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Allen Duhon, Jr., Christopher Duhon, Chad Duhon, Rickey Duhon, Brandon Dartez, and Colby Duhon.
Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Zachary Cepeda.

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for Mavely Marie Bouillion, 95 will be celebrated Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre. Father Keith Landry will officiate.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of services,with a Rosary recited at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre.
Mavely was born September 13, 1920 in Delcambre and was a long time resident of Acadiana. Mavely passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Pelican Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Maurice. Mavely worked as a seamstress out of her home for many years in the town of Erath. Customers were knocking on the door at 6:30 in the morning until 7:30 at night 7 days a week. This was her life and she loved her work very much, having gone through many sewing machines in her lifetime. She had many customers and she was loved by them all. She was always fair and appreciated for her many special favors.
Mavely is survived by her  two sons, Kermit Bouillion and his wife Deborah DesOrmeaux of Duson and Carol Bouillion  of Erath; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous dear nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Bouillion; her parents Alexis and Aline Bourque Aucoin; brother Essie Aucoin; and her sister Mae Delahoussaye.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Geoffroy, Casey Dickerson, Gerald Trahan, Brett Foster, Jimmy Hemsell, Jared Meyers, and Bob Anderson. Gift bearers will be Aiden Mayers,Landon Trahan, and Cole Foster. Readers will be Allison Dickerson and Heather Foster.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Eva Mae Irvin Ortolon, 97, who died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her daughter’s home.
She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with officiating the services.
Eva was born March 24, 1919 in Ged, LA. She moved to Abbeville with her mother and brother where she grew up. At an early age went to work for Dr. A.A. Comeaux at his clinic off of West Port Street as a receptionist and then trained on the job to help to give shots and help where ever needed at his office on Concord Street. She met George Ortolon married November 9, 1939 then he left for the Navy and returned home they had one daughter, Ernest Dean Ortolon. Mom was a stay home mom and lived with Ella Blanchard for her not to be alone. Eva was a devoted wife, mom, daughter, grandmother, and great grandmother. After retirement her and dad traveled in their motor home they belonged to Creole Campers of Abbeville, Chapter 4 - Acadiana Good Samers and Family Motor Coach enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends especially grandson, George E. LeBlanc. PaPaw and Ma-Maw going camping to Percy Quinn State Park in Mississippi.
She is sadly missed by daughter, Ernest Dean O. LeBlanc and her husband Thomas C. LeBlanc; three great grandchildren, Lainey R. LeBlanc of Fort Walton, FL, Johnny D. LeBlanc of Fort Walton, FL, and Tanner Hill of Austin, TX; “special” grandson, Justin Hebert and his family; numerous nieces and nephews of Orange and Bridge City, TX; and “special” daughters, Anita Matte, Sue LeBlanc, and Yvonne Wheat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ortolon; parents, Willie Irvin and the former
Ella M. Blanchard; brother, Ernest “Buddy” J. Irvin; and grandson, George Ernest LeBlanc.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
Would like to thank all those from Synergy Home Health; especially Karen Bienvenu and Carmen Romero for their visits she looked forward to and especially the Bridgeway Home Health and Hospice for all their help in the two days of being in their care gave her family feeling help especially Laisey who was waiting for her when arriving home from hospital and “our rock”. Gary Harmon gave us so much compassion at the time we needed it the most from the heart and also my neighbor, Nona Bell Faulk Griffin and friend, Paul Peterson.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmy DeMarcay, Jr. and his wife Connie of Morton, MS, and Artie DeMarcay of Lafayette; daughter, Juanita Babineaux and her husband Tommy of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Debra Babineaux of Abbeville, and Marc LeBlanc of Ponchatoula; great granddaughter, Evangeline Babineaux of Abbeville; and three brothers, Joey Hebert of Henry, Maurice Hebert of Erath and Robert Fuselier of Westlake.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margery Conner Hebert; father, Clain Fuselier; and sister, Katherine F. Payne.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles George Sherman; daughters, Delaina S. Stephens, Christina Hebert and her husband Ricky, Sherry Howell and her husband Lynn, and Karen Thibodeaux and her husband Lelande; son, Keith Sherman and his wife Virginia (who she looked at as her own daughter as well); grandchildren; Jesse Stephens, Jeffery Stephens, Jeremy Stephens, Blythe Hebert, Camden Hebert, Zoe Hebert, Ashley Dumesnil, Drew Howell, Colby Howell, Emily Sherman and Sarah Sherman; great grandchildren, Sophie Stephens, Ava Stephens, Charlie Stephens, Ella Rae Dumesnil, Joshua Dumesnil and Henry Bob Howell; and siblings, Audrey Prejean, Catherine Walters, Arnold Hebert and Lisa Hebert.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.
A native of Vermilion Parish and a lifelong resident of Erath, Mr. Theriot died at 5:15AM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Eastridge Nursing Home. Mr. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII; He retired from the State of Louisiana after over 10 years as a bridge tender; and was a member of American Legion Post 29 and VFW Post 4158. He was also known for his love for fishing and gardening.
He is survived by two daughters, Ruby Romero and her husband Doug of Abbeville and Jacquelyn Lormand of Abbeville; two sisters, Louise Libersat and Louella Mouton; three grandchildren, Melvin Romero and his wife Beth, Michelle R. Dartez and her husband Kenneth, and Marshall P. Romero and his wife Rayna; eight great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Avia Langlinais Theriot; his parents, Elmick and Celestine Soirez Theriot; and a sister, Stella Menard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marshall Romero, Melvin Romero, Greg Boling, Gerald Libersat, Kenneth Dartez, and Jacob Gerard.

She is survived by her husband, Charles “Po-Boy” Gunter of Abbeville; two sons, Edward Charles Gunter and his wife Roma of Abbeville and Lovelace Gunter and his wife Martha of Lafayette; grandchildren, Brett Gunter, Cody Gunter, Marcus Gunter, Lauren Gaspard and Amber Judice; and great grandchildren, Hailey Gunter, Taylor Gunter, Kaitlyn Gunter, Wyatt Gunter, Emmett Gunter, Zane Gaspard, Olivia Gaspard and Emmett Judice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Guilbeaux; brothers, Euclide Abshire, Wallace Guilbeaux, Leo Guilbeaux and Baptice Guilbeaux; and a sister, Eve Luquette.

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Ryan Fedancio Luna, 38, who died Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services.
Ryan found great joy in his continued volunteer service of helping his fellow veterans through an organization called Hero Hunts. He was very respected and loved by the veterans that he came in contact with. Ryan’s final act was to give the gift of life as an organ donor where he was able to save five lives.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Hebert Luna of Maurice; son, Christian Vincent of Lafayette; daughter, Lillian Luna of Maurice; parents, Adolph Luna of Port Lavaca, TX; mother, Phyllis Choate Luna of Lafayette; step father, Matthew Estellette of Lafayette; brother, Justin Luna and his wife Jessica of Abita Springs; sister, Sarah Luna of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Katie Hebert and Julie Hebert Wilkinson and her husband John David; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irby Hebert, Jr and Debra Pierce Hebert; uncle Harry Mayard; and numerous nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fedancio V. Luna and Benilde Vera Luna and maternal grandparents, Oran Choate and Ursula Theall; uncles, Albert Luna and Alfred Luna and godfather, Robert Choate, Sr..

Eula, a resident of Maurice for 44 years, was the daughter of the late Preston Frederick and the former Matile Trahan.
She is survived by her husband of 52 and a half years, Robert John Delhommer, Sr.; two sons, Robert John Delhommer, Jr. and his wife, Pam and Michael James Delhommer and his wife, Sue; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Cheri, Andrea, Caleb, Garrett, Brandi and Mari Jane Delhommer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Rhonda Delhommer; one brother, Ray Frederick and two sisters, Hazel Frederick and Linda Frederick Hebert.
Eula loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed camping, fishing and genealogy.

ABBEVILLE — A mass of Christian Burial for Elvin Joseph Michaud, 90, will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at a 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church with burial at St. Paul Mausoleum, Abbeville, La. Reverend Louis Richard will preside.
The pallbearers will be his grandsons. The readers will be his granddaughters.
Elvin Joseph Michaud was born on July 11, 1926, in Sunset, La., to Frank Michaud and Lea Smith. He married Buna Babineaux on June 28, 1944, in Carencro, La. When Elvin returned from World War II, they lived in Carencro, Lafayette, and then made their home in Abbeville.
Elvin was in the Army during World War II from November 27, 1944 until July 9, 1946. He served in Germany, Czechoslovakia and France. He received a Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4158. He was proud to be able to visit the National World War II Memorial in Washington D. C. through the Louisiana Honor Air in 2007.
Elvin was the President of Michaud Brothers Masonry for many years. He was so proud of the many homes and commercial buildings that he and his brothers built including his own home and of course “the Michaud Camp”. He was featured in the Louisiana State Contractors Magazine for the work on the Saint Mary Magdalen Ministries Building in Abbeville.
Paw said he had the greatest family in the world. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, crabbing, hunting and playing bourree. Nearly 25 years ago Paw started the tradition of cooking on Saturdays at the “Michaud” camp where the entire family would gather. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have celebrated many birthday parties there and also the 50th wedding anniversary of Paw and Maw.
He is survived by seven children: Norma Jane Buford, husband Robert Buford; Barbara Gale Melancon, husband Kenneth Mark Melancon; Judy Ann Shea; Cleveland Glen Michaud, Sr., wife Nancy Landry Michaud; Yvonne Ruth Gaspard, husband Paul Wayne Gaspard; Elvin Joseph Michaud, Jr.; and Rufus Dale Michaud, wife Vickie Morvant Michaud. fifteen grandchildren: Tammy Lynn Broussard Gaspard, Bart Allen Broussard, Mark Francis Melancon, Todd Patrick Melancon, Lais James Ryder, Jr., Alicia Kaye Ryder, Dana Ryder Stelly, Cleveland Glynn Michaud, Jr., Marcus Roy Hebert, Dawayne Joseph Gaspard, Brenna Earline Michaud Hornsby, Genesia C-Ann Michaud Thompson, Michael Carl Michaud, Brett Dale Michaud, and Brock Joseph Michaud. twenty great grandchildren: Tristin Alan Gaspard, Trinity Sarah-Ann Gaspard, Alex Michael Broussard, Ali Michelle Broussard, Lane Patrick Melancon, Daylan Dawayne Ryder, Brant Wayne Stelly, Ahni Marie Stelly, Alayna Kaye Henry, Cleveland Glynn Michaud III (Traé), twins Lana Jolie Michaud and Lucy Nell Michaud, Corbin Allen Hebert, Jackson Wayne Gaspard, Preston James Gaspard, Onna Marie Thompson, Emma Elizabeth Thompson, Ethan Andrew Richard Thompson, Ava Grace Hornsby, and Nolan Lee Hornsby. two sisters: Evelyn Arabie and Joyce Broussard. four brothers: Albert, Wallace, Harry and Eugene.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Buna Babineaux; daughter, Earline Marie Michaud; parents, Frank Regis Michaud, Sr. and Lea Smith; brothers Leonce Michaud, Cleveland Michaud, and Frank Michaud, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Francois Michoud and Celestine Courquet; maternal grandparents, Joseph Maurice Smith and Marie Smith.
The family would like to give a big heartfelt thank you to Jan Davis for her compassionate care of Paw.
